No Serious Injuries In Monday's Six Vehicle Pile-Up Near ClairmontFebruary 21, 2012Ice fog in the area may've been a contributing factor to yesterday morning's crash near Clairmont that closed Highway 2 for nearly five hours. Police say five cars were southbound on the highway and stopped at a railway crossing around 10 o'clock when a car in the right hand land was rammed by an approaching logging truck. That collision pushed the car into the vehicle ahead. Mounties say the truck switched to the left lane and hit a pickup, which caused another chain crash involving another pickup and a van. A woman and two children in the van, and the drivers of the first two were all taken to hospital -- but police say incredibly no one suffered serious injuries. The investigation is continuing. image supplied by Grande Prairie RCMP (rural detachment) |
